Wanapix comes close to pulling off a feat against the super champion

Wanapix needed a night like this. Not because of the result, which once again left the team without a prize, but because of everything else. Against one of the league's giants, the team stepped up and showed they can compete with anyone.

The match started at a fast pace, with Wanapix eager to challenge ElPozo for the initiative. However, it was the Murcia side who struck first. Pablo García opened the scoring in the 8th minute , making it 0-1.

The match remained open, with both teams going forward and Wanapix pressing for a goal. ElPozo found their second goal shortly after the restart. Dener made it 0-2 in the 22nd minute, a tough blow against an opponent accustomed to handling these situations.

But Wanapix didn't leave the game. Quite the opposite.

Jorge Palos' team continued to believe and began to build a comeback that ignited the Siglo XXI. Adrián Ortego narrowed the gap in the 26th minute , completely changing the game. The 1-2 scoreline gave Zaragoza even more momentum, and they went for the win.

And they found him.

Kike Liao, returning after three games out due to injury, made it 2-2 in the 33rd minute. The tie finally unleashed Wanapix and a pavilion that saw how their team was putting the Spanish super champion on the ropes.

Four minutes later, the reward arrived. Célio Coque appeared in the 37th minute to score the 3-2 and complete the comeback. From 0-2 to 3-2 against ElPozo.

There were three minutes left. And they were three frantic minutes.

ElPozo responded almost immediately. Tomaz equalized in the 38th minute , bringing the game back to square one. At 3-3, neither team gave up on finding the winning goal.

Everything pointed to a draw after a huge effort from Wanapix, but the match still had one last twist in store.

With just 14 seconds, Santa Cruz made it 3-4. A crushing blow for Wanapix, who had done so much to try and salvage something positive, only to see all their hard work throughout the night go unrewarded practically at the buzzer.

There was no time for more.

The 3-4 defeat hurts because of how it happened, but it reveals a very different Wanapix than the one only reflected in the points. The team came back from two goals down against the reigning champions, took the lead, and forced them to fight until the final seconds.

There was no prize this time either. But in the Siglo XXI there was a game. And what a game it was.
