Wanapix missed out on a prize in the Siglo XXI. The Zaragoza team fell 3-4 to O Parrulo Ferrol after a match in which they had to fight back from the very beginning, managing to equalize from 1-3 before halftime and battling for the draw until the final seconds.
The match didn't start well for Jorge Palos's team. O Parrulo capitalized on their chances to go 0-2 up, forcing Wanapix to play catch-up. Even so, the team began to create opportunities near the Galician penalty area, and in the 13th minute, they scored their first goal.
A foul near the area fell to Adrián Ortego. The Zaragoza native took the free kick and converted to make it 1-2. There was barely time to savor it. In that same minute, David Novoa responded for O Parrulo, restoring the visitors' two-goal lead (1-3).
Wanapix kept pressing. Xuxu had a chance for a second goal in the 15th minute, but was denied by a great save from the visiting goalkeeper. A minute later, there was no more room for error. Samu Freire scored to make it 2-3 , and the game changed.
The final stretch of the first half was completely end-to-end. O Parrulo reached five fouls and, in the 19th minute, committed his sixth practically on the edge of the area. Ortego took the ball again. This time without a wall, he scored again. Adrián's second goal and it was 3-3. Wanapix had come back from 1-3 down and the match went into halftime as it had begun: tied.
After the break, there were fewer goals, but no less tension. Neither team could break the deadlock, and every attack began to carry significant weight.
In the 28th minute, Xuxu cleared a shot off the line that looked destined to become O Parrulo's fourth goal. The relief was short-lived. Shortly after, David Novoa appeared again, and with a powerful shot, made it 3-4.
It was time to row again.
Wanapix pressed for an equalizer and had chances to get it. Célio Coque came close in the 33rd minute, but Caio made a crucial save. As the minutes ticked by, Palos switched to a five-man attack in an attempt to win the game.
And that's when one of the actions that marked the end came.
With O Parrulo having committed five fouls and around two minutes remaining, Wanapix requested a VIR review of a possible foul by the visiting team. If called, it would have been their sixth foul. The referees reviewed the play and determined there was no foul.
The game continued and Wanapix maintained their five-man attack. They tried until the end, but the ball just wouldn't go in. 3-4 and the points went to Ferrol.
A defeat that leaves the team without a reward after having been able to come back from 1-3 down and keep the game open until the final seconds.
And with barely time to look back, it's time to return to the Siglo XXI. On Tuesday, September 29th, at 8:30 PM, Wanapix hosts ElPozo Murcia Costa Cálida in the early match of Matchday 7 of the Prime Futsal League.
