Wanapix fell 3-0 to Jimbee Cartagena in a match that was much closer than the final score suggested. Two goals in just one minute put the game against them far too early. From then on, Jorge Palos' team had to fight back, and they did, creating chances to get back into the game.
The final 3-0 score doesn't fully tell the story of what happened at the Palacio de los Deportes in Cartagena.
Wanapix came out determined to go toe-to-toe with Jimbee. They didn't sit back, they didn't sit back, and they looked for their opportunities from the start. But two plays in quick succession changed the game almost as soon as it began.
In the 5th minute, Osamanmusa made it 1-0. A minute later came the second, scored by Tomaz Braga. Two goals in just sixty seconds and a 2-0 lead that forced Wanapix to change their planned strategy.
The blow was significant, but the team didn't give up on the game.
Jorge Palos' team continued to play, creating scoring opportunities and having chances to reduce the deficit. Jimbee had the lead, but Wanapix kept the game open. The score remained 2-0 until halftime.
No reward after the break
Wanapix returned to the court looking for that goal that could change everything.
The team stepped up their game and continued to challenge Jimbee throughout the second half. They created chances and came close to making it 2-1, but lacked the finishing touch in the final third.
And the clock started working against them.
With the score still 2-0, Wanapix wasn't content. Jorge Palos opted for a five-man attack in the final minutes to try and find a goal and keep their hopes alive.
The team took risks until the very end. This time it didn't pay off.
With one minute remaining, Osamamusa capitalized on the situation to score his second goal of the match, making it 3-0. This goal effectively sealed the game and extended the lead, a margin that didn't reflect the flow of the match for much of the first forty minutes.
Wanapix leaves Cartagena without any points after a match in which they paid dearly for those two early goals conceded. The team had chances, searched for a goal until the end, and deserved more, but this time they couldn't find the net.
